A beau with a bad beard June 10, 2010

My husband is currently growing a beard. It upsets me irrationally and I have paused today to take a moment and ask why.

His whiskers are relatively thick and exceptionally dark but thankfully they’re trimmed to perfection. Having said that, I did find a crumb nestled in his healthy facial mane during a stroll in Ikea at the weekend.

I’ve also caught him teasing out the ends of his moustache with his fingers many a time (the last occurrence was during last night’s episode of the Junior Apprentice) and trimming his beard with my giant pair of kitchen scissors. All the while he was exhibiting a look of intense concentration similar to the face a surgeon might display during a life saving heart-bypass operation.

So I can’t complain that he looks unkempt, because as unwilling as I am to admit it, he still looks rather dashing. He’s the same guy with the same personality, appalling dance moves and kind heart but he just looks a little different.

This got me thinking about content – the jewel in the crown of the redsauce enterprise.

My colleagues and I write fresh content everyday because new content equals an increase in traffic to your website. We add news and other tasty morsels of information daily but the essence of the websites usually stays the same. Just a slight change, like the addition of a news story or content rewrite can bring attention to sites that might otherwise have been forgotten in Google’s overflowing brain.

So maybe my husband’s new beard is just his subtle way of making me pay him a little more attention than usual. He’s the same guy but the tiny addition of a bristly barb means I see him in a different light.

Maybe I’ll let him keep the beard after all.

well, he is too ashamed of the redsauce.com crew to be seen out with us tonight, so we cannot give a verdict on the beard of death! :)

You have a beard of death James. It confuses small children. They want to know why Santa has dyed, trimmed his beard and is aimlessly wandering around the Staffordshire streets whispering about content under his breath.
