A story about determination August 15, 2010 No Comments
A friend always tells me a story, I know its coming because of the way it starts. He says the thing that frustrates him the most is people who are willing to throw away good talent because they are not determined enough.
This then gets personal and you will hear about a man who he knew that had an incredible amount of talent and was an amazing painter. He would even get the chance to show his work to art collectors who gave him the validation that all artists needed, opening their cheque-book and asking “how much is this painting?“.
Who moved my raisin? August 13, 2010 No Comments
The following story is a tale loosely based on a raisin I ate this afternoon. It is also a bit of a spoof of a certain cheese-related book that has done the rounds at redsauce.com. Before I ate it the raisin told me its life story and said “redsauce.com *cough* never stop striving”, I decided to tell its tale, a story that every young company on a steep learning curve would do well to heed. You might read it and think it’s a load of bunters, which essentially, it is. Either way, the raisin was delicious.
“Once upon a time there was a little raisin who had a dream.
Fashion and content August 12, 2010 No Comments
My sister visited me at my flat this week and borrowed all of my clothes despite arriving with a mini leather suitcase filled to the brim.
But I was fine with it – I’m one of four sisters and sharing clothes was akin to drinking water in my household. It was difficult for a time, considering I was rather rotund for a good few years and my sisters were lithe and devoid of any scrap of superfluous adipose tissue. I spent a time wearing only the clothes I’d bought from plus size stores and fashioning the asian outfits sitting in my closet, which combined functionality with comfort (in other words they were loose). Take the ‘L’ plates off your online content August 11, 2010 No Comments
The prospect of driving to see a client in Telford this week got me thinking about my driving ability and how similar it is to my writing ability.
I’m going to be honest here. When I first started to learn how to drive not long after my 17th birthday I was awful. Worse than awful. I was probably one of the worst learners my poor instructor had ever the misfortune of trying to teach. I didn’t know my left from my right, my wipers from my indicators and don’t even get me started on my reversing abilities. Up until then, the only driving experience I’d had was a ride on a go-kart and even that resulted in a sprained wrist right around the time of my SATs. Horr-en-dous!
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition August 10, 2010 No Comments
Spam Spam Spam Spam got me thinking about Monty Python, so I thought why not have a double-bill of Monty Python related blogs.
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition, they just post articles and blogs and links without thinking about it and all because they think content is the key.
But maybe you should subject your content to a Spanish Inquisition now and then and make sure it’s up to scratch.
All in all I’m content August 8, 2010 No Comments
Hi, I’m Matthew, yes you can feel more than welcome to call me Matt and this morning I’m content.
I’m lying a little and it’s a play on words but bare with me, my levels of content-ness aren’t synonymous with my content at all but for some reason I find this whole word play quite amusing. Let’s talk more about content then, not feelings and emotions.
The one where everyone discusses Friends August 7, 2010 No Comments
There was a particularly warm and fuzzy feeling in the office last Friday. It might’ve been the buzz of the encroaching weekend or maybe a cracked water pipe was leeching something funky into our cups of tea, but everyone was in especially high spirits thanks to our self-created quiz: How well do you know the popular TV series Friends?
Air conditioning troubles turn up the heat in the office August 5, 2010 No Comments
A divide has formed in the redsauce office and I am non too pleased about it.
This is not the sort of divide associated with political upheaval or apartheid. Nor is it about personality, sexual orientation or favourite choice of lunchtime milkshake.
A divide between the techies and the wordsmiths has reared its ugly head. It was inevitable really (we writers don’t appreciate the ins and outs of html speak and we are strangely suspicious of any type of quiet group earnestly working away in silence. What exactly are they getting up to over there? We are duly confounded). Read the rest of this entry »
Think before you ink… August 2, 2010 No Comments
So yesterday, I got a tattoo, pictured on the left. Pain-wise, it felt a bit like one of those electric carving knives lightly touching my skin – not as bad as lip piercing, but certainly not a pleasurable experience, more annoying than anything else.
But, it’s done now and I’m very happy with it.
Ch-ch-ch-checkin’ it out: the key to keywords July 31, 2010 No Comments
Today has been a curious morning to say the least. I strolled into the office this morning and noticed Amy sat at her computer (ever the early bird) and she was checking some content Matt had written. Everything was as it should be; Tim was checking his email while waiting for the kettle to boil, Chris was wearing his old-favourite checked shirt and Roger was doing something intricately SEO-y that I couldn’t possibly comprehend.
