For a number of years, whilst building traffic for many clients, I ignored the “conversion side of things” and left this to other people.√Ǭ† Silly boy, eh.

A few years ago, working with a large mobile phone website, I helped them to improve conversions at a significant rate – and it was my first attempt.√Ǭ† What does this tell us?√Ǭ† It tells us that improving conversions, in the main, is all about common sense.√Ǭ† Do many things on the site … - Read More >

If you have ever suffered a Google penalty and lost rankings for one or all of your sites, one thing is sure – keep working hard at what you were doing before ON the site, and whatever you had done to get penalised, get rid of.

I know that this sounds like very simple advice, but is definitely something that will help you in a number of ways.√Ǭ† For one, when you lose your mind after the rankings have gone, … - Read More >

One of the battles that I constantly come up against when committing myself to a local SEO project is splurging.

What is splurging you may ask?  Its a name that I give to the process of adding sitewide links to important pages on a directory/gumtree/craigslist type of site.  For example on gumtree, there are permanent links to the most important locations that the site operates in.

I have seen some extremely successful directory style sites operate with no splurge, just … - Read More >

One question that companies often ask search agencies (especially those with new websites) is “How long will the SEO take to impact?”√Ǭ† The question, for many reasons, is highly problematic and very diificult to answer bluntly.√Ǭ† How would you define “impact” or success for example?√Ǭ† Not only this, the success rate depends entirely on the vertical which you are competitiing in.√Ǭ† Finance and travel are notriously comepetitive sectors, that require huge budgets and a great deal on work to acheive … - Read More >

Local SEO was, until recently, a simple affair.

Ensure that you contain enough local keywords, get some site authority (strong links to the home page), ensure that the pages for locations are easily indexible, and get some local directories and websites to link to specific local pages on the site.

Well, since Google implemented their local and brand twists to the algorithm (my own personal views by the way), we have seen more ‘mom and pop’ style websites entering the … - Read More >

Check out this blog post by Stuckon, about the importance of traffic as opposed to search engine rankings.

It highlights the importance of having increased traffic as opposed to just rankings – wise words.√Ǭ† Rankings are important no question, but only if they relate to popular search terms.√Ǭ† Starting out an SEO strategy based solely on 4/5 keyterms can be restrictive, but is what many SEO companies offer.√Ǭ† If an SEO company is able to deliver several, generic (relevant) … - Read More >

A lot of the time when we approach new companies about investing in our news content service, we receieve responses such as “my industry is too specific or niche for regular content”.√Ǭ† A lot of businesses think what on earth is there to write about.√Ǭ† Well you would be suprised at just how much information there is on the web already.√Ǭ† Simply do a Google search for the main term that represents your business and see how many matching results … - Read More >

Search marketing has revolutionised the way companies advertise and market themselves.√Ǭ† The ability to control budgets and measure returns, down the tiniest detail (such as search phrase) plus the fact you can increase / decrease spend quickly has ensured that it has grown hugely in the past few years. Before the advent of search, companies had various options on how to advertise to their audience. These broadly were composed of the broadcast medium (TV / Radio) and the printed media … - Read More >
