The standard layout of a Meta description tag should be like this:

The meta description tag is the description of the site under your sites link in Google. The purpose of the description meta tag is to entice users to click onto your site. The mistake most people make when writing meta tags is they write a sales pitch into their description trying to convince the user to click onto their site and not their competitions. The major flaw in this plan is that Google highlights the words in the description that match what the user typed in.

Here is a good example of how to write the perfect description for your site. Google has highlighted the words that match the users query, and this is what search engine users are looking for.

The perfect Meta description should contain words that you think the user will be typing in to find you, but it’s important to still construct an easy to read description.

1. Ensure that your description describes the content on your page.

2. Ensure that your description flows so that the user can just scan it.

3. Make sure your description uses words that you believe the user will type into Google.
