The iPad, the iPad, the iPad… that’s all I hear in this office! The hype surrounding the iPad is the biggest thing since sliced bread!

It’s even turned James into even more of an excited, dribbling wreck than usual! But when it was announced the launch date had been pushed back meaning he couldn’t buy it while he’s in America on holiday it quickly brought his oatcake-filled belly back down to earth with a bump! Why does Apple hate Flash? March 14, 2010 1 Comment

With the iPad coming out the and the iPhone as popular as ever…why does Apple simply refuse to display Adobe Flash on these devices?

As a long-time worshipper of Flash I certainly cannot get my head around it. But maybe that’s just me… and perhaps that’s the problem – I like Flash so much I can’t see the Web without it!

Flash is a great platform for media rich content, such as animation and interactive elements. When used in the right way, it can be used for amazing web work, games and platforms for video etc.

BBC sparks anger from newspapers over iPhone plans February 28, 2010 No Comments

The BBC have thrown another spanner into the online content battle after announcing plans to launch a dedicated free app to deliver BBC content straight to the iPhone.

The newspaper industry are up in arms over the decision to deliver quality content, such as news services and the popular iPlayer TV service, straight to mobile devices. The Newspapers Publishers Association are so incensed they’re set to complain to ministers and the BBC Trust. Their complaint? They believe the latest smartphone app will “distort the market”. Nothing to do with their greedy plans to start charging for online content then?!

The app was announced at last week’s Mobile World Congress and is set to be available for iPhone users and other mobile devices, such as Blackberry and Google’s Android, by the end of the year. Read the rest of this entry »

Google launch first phone but can it really rival Apple? January 9, 2010 No Comments

apple-vs-google_2Now unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last week, and after the weather this week I really wouldn’t blame you, you’ll have heard that Google have launched their first phone.

Not content with just dominating the worldwide search engine market Google have now decided to try their hand at the mobile phone market. Google have seen the vast majority of people now use the internet on their mobiles and they want a piece of the profit.
