I am of course joking – Amy is a lovely person who competently manages our content team of misfits. Always equipped with a salad, yoghurt or a surprisingly cold apple, Amy is ready to take on the day, as long as she hasn’t been out the night before – then, she’s a bit fragile. Bad times.

Often heard audibly sighing or saying ‘oh noooo’ at her computer screen, we often wonder whether there are legitimate computer problems or simply a particularly stressful game of Bejewelled, but apart from that she’s fine.

Consistently handing out new and exciting content to her devoted pack of writers and defending herself from the wandering crocodile, Amy is a beast of a content writer and an intrinsic part of the redsauce crew.

So let’s raise a sneakily hidden, but generally forgotten, bottle of water to our head of content – just not at 4:50PM. She’s like clockwork, y’see.

Rumoured to have once visited Japan, this mystical being is part-woman, part-fringe and brings joy, wonderment and occasional frustration at tiling stories composed by our resident cyborg, Milton. And by occasional, I mean constant.

Often seen interfering with a knitted monkey whilst whispering sweet nothings to a jasmine plant called Jazzy Jeff, Selena is not one to cross. She will literally bite your head off. Literally.

Employing a special tactic of welcoming new members of the redsauce team with routine insults and ‘playful’ jibes, Ms McCubbin enjoys making observations on everything that a redsauceror might do. New haircut? Selena will comment. Not shaved? Selena will comment. New brand of hot beverage? You’d better believe that Selena will comment.

At the end of the day, Selena can be seen stretching and yawning like Bagpuss as she pines for just the briefest sight of a Kindle e-book reader. It is at this time that she is most volatile and often terrifyingly unstable, and the slightest punctuation error can send her into a blind rage.

So as she sits there in her bizarre yet somehow mesmerising poncho thing, we should raise a cup of lumpy, mysterious latte to our Selena, because redsauce just wouldn’t be the same without her. It would probably be better.

Next week, we will be studying our Yorkshire lass, Javaria. Assuming she hasn’t eaten any bad fish.

Built in a munitions factory as part of a secret Gulf War project, he was initially codenamed A.D.A.M – an acronym later discovered to be ‘A Deeply Aggravating Man’. Boasting the same processor speed as can be found within a 2nd generation iPod and a chassis based on Martin Freeman and Plan B, he is equipped with at least 7 catchphrases and, as part of a firmware update, has somehow developed sentience.

Such phrases include:

I like it, not a lot, but I like it.
I love it when a plan comes together.
That’s what she said.

However, he still does have some glitches and bugs that have not yet been corrected – he has frequent problems remembering band names, an indecisive nature towards food (which he simply deems as ‘fuel’) and an occasional tendency to lapse into a babbling moron. He also requires at least one day a month to recharge his batteries and update his software, at which time he will remain silent and unresponsive.

Is he an idiot-savant or simply an idiot? We may never know. However, we do know that this mystery wrapped in an enigma contained within a deliberately-sabotaged puzzle box is a valuable member of the redsauce team and we all love him. Mostly, anyway.

As you know, we believe content is king so we’ve recently been faced with the task of enlisting the services of yet another content writer. While the atmosphere at the redsauce office is very relaxed and laid back, we still take interviews very seriously as only the best of the best get picked to join our select team. So what do we look for in interviewees?

1. Skill: Obviously skill is the most important thing. If your CV doesn’t “sell” you and your skills, you won’t be invited for an interview. Show us you’ve got the skills we need. Portfolio’s are great for doing this and can really highlight your talents. It could even change our opinion of you and could swing the job in your favour.

2. Personality: It’s important to show your personality during an interview. This helps us to gauge whether you’d be able to fit in with the team or if there could be any personality clashes. It also shows us you have a sense of humour which is definitely important when working in our office. You still need to act professionally but acting robotically is definitely not the key to our hearts.

3. Respect: Here at redsauce.com we take our work very seriously. To impress us you need to show respect for our work and the money we make.

4. Openness: To be successful as a content writer you need to be ready to change. It’s not advisable to come in here telling us you know everything already and can do the job with your eyes closed. Want the cold, hard truth? You really can’t! Most of the work we do is fairly new and exciting so it’s almost impossible that you will know how to do everything already.

5. Willingness to learn: This is key. There’s so much to teach when it comes to content writing at redsauce.com. If you don’t want to learn you’re not going to either a. get the job or b. keep the job for very long.

If you have all these factors and impress us when it comes to the face-to-face interview there’s a chance you could be the next person to feature in the all-star redsauce team.

Strategy: an elaborate and systematic plan of action

How true – as well as more than first-rate SEO techniques – so good, in fact, that we consider what others claim to be amazing techniques as merely the ‘norm’ – we produce a plan of action for our clients in terms of the content written for their sites.

We have realised something very pertinent at redsauce which is that just when you have devised, planned and then produced the goods, you need to then devise a whole new plan to take the site even further away from competition. This can be both exhilarating and mundane in the same breath. Why? Because the knowledge that adding a whole series of planned content around a particular subject will deliver many more sales for a client is an exciting realisation, but immediately after follows the reality that the content then needs to be built.

AAAAGGGGHHHH! as our content team may say.

So, just like the Golden Gate Bridge, which needs to be painted as soon as the last paint job has finished, content for your website should be ready to be added to and edited as soon as your next round of content is added.

This is a key foundation of success online – the admission that fresh, unique, interesting content must be added every single day of the year, and even more frequently than that.
