How many SEO-ers does it take to change a light bulb? July 27, 2010 No Comments

I don’t know but below are some SEO based jokes, which I could create punchlines for.

I thought: we are always talking about SEO and the diversity of content but that we don’t really talk about the lighter side of SEO. And one of the lighter sides is jokes.

So to do the SEO treatment to SEO, here are a few jokes to tackle SEO from a new angle.

And just so you know George Clooney loved them.

The relationship between trifle and content July 15, 2010 No Comments

My husband is a well meaning chap. However, he tends to make me do things that I sometimes don’t want to do, like go for extended walks, drink coffee and watch a Pakistani news channel replete with heavily made-up newswomen sporting ungodly amounts of rouge . And why? “Because I love you and I want you to try new things”, he said, to which of course I have no viable response.

The redsauce team share my husband’s characteristics when it come to client well being. Let me explain further (in a rather long-winded fashion).

My visit to the supermarket last night was stupendous. Why you ask? Well I managed to reach the store at the exact moment that one of the staff members was handling her pricing gun. In other words it was time for a discount bonanza! Herds of shoppers turned up at the oven area and clambered passed me trying to get their hands on a juicy roast chicken at a knock down price. But they were no match for me! I grabbed by oven baked bird and ran to the cake section. Read the rest of this entry »

Too much choice and SEO July 13, 2010 No Comments

Is too much choice a bad thing?

Now, instinctively I’d say “no” but recently I’ve been unable to choose what film to watch of an evening and I’m pretty sure it’s all because I’ve got too much choice.

It has to be that because I’ve got some amazing films like The Godfather, Star Wars, Pulp Fiction, The 40 year old virgin, Scent of a woman, Amelie, Jurassic Park, to name but a few. So how can I not pick a film to watch?

The answer: I have so many that I don’t know where to start.

Watching the news via Twitter… July 12, 2010 No Comments

The joys of writing the Monday blog – I suppose I should probably talk about Spain, Raoul Moat or Cheryl Cole, but as per usual I’m going to talk about Twitter. You lucky people.

Now, I don’t own a television – I don’t watch that much of it, can’t afford a license at the moment and I have the internet which offers me just about the same. However, one thing I used to be slightly hindered with is the news. It tends to be the olds by the time I get to it.

BUT thanks to the power of the internet, Twitter and a handy little widget shown to me by hung-over Matthew, I can keep up-to-date with notifications and opinions of Tweeters I am following.

As powerful as Google News is, news is rarely real-time as results are collated from different sources – granted some news sites such as BBC, Sky News and FIFA offer real-time updates, but you are restricted to remaining on the specific page.

Take a break to improve your content June 29, 2010 No Comments

I’m off work this week, so there’s no SEO or content writing for me, unfortunately.

Instead, I’m sitting at home watching the Tennis; at the moment it’s Federer vs. Melzer and Federer is up one set (and yes I did write this yesterday).

But I hear you ask: “What’s this got to do with SEO?” Well, I’m about to tell you.

Put down the vuvuzelas June 28, 2010 No Comments

So we lost.

I say we, I mean the English football team – a sorry, tired bunch of overly familiar and disappointing faces struggling to keep up with fantastic play from the Germans. A rag-tag group of cocky, overpaid individuals who appeared lost on the field; maybe they had greater intentions to return to the studio and make a few more adverts.

Can spending $80 on a hair cut or your website change your fortunes? June 23, 2010 No Comments

The boss may be away but he’s still in contact! James has been e-mailing fresh from the States everyday with his news… and what news he has!

So far in his 5 or 6 days he’s… well as far as I know he’s not really done a lot! The only thing that he’s been excited about doing in the 37oC Dallas sun is getting an $80 hair cut! Yes… he’s gone all the way to America to get his hair cut! Now this wouldn’t normally be cause for a blog post but it cleverly links in with SEO and content.

The thing is James unfortunately thinks that splashing out on an $80 haircut could change his fortunes and make him look less like a well-known cartoon character. In fact, he’s convinced himself so much that it’s going to work that he’s even come up with names of ladies he’s apparently met over there (all platonic of course, just in case Samantha is reading this!) Oh dear! In the same way that spending $80 on a website isn’t going to transform your tired site, neither is an $80 hair cut going to transform a tired man! Read the rest of this entry »

Tweet, Tweet and spreading the seeds (or birdfood) June 22, 2010 No Comments

Last week I was persuaded to start Tweeting because “apparently” Twitter is where it’s at for future journalists.

So one week in and let me tell you what I think.

Well, I never thought I’d say this but I actually prefer it to Facebook and that’s because it’s like Facebook but a lot faster.

Let me explain…

Google Caffeine – hyperactive SEO? June 21, 2010 No Comments

I’ve not been too well this weekend, for the first time in quite a while – at this point I would usually awkwardly segue onto the topic of content and how bad content could make you ill, but that’s just ridiculous.

Instead I’m going to discuss Google Caffeine – because that’s been a major factor in keeping me going this weekend (caffeine I mean, not Google).

No website is an Island! June 15, 2010 No Comments

About a boy is an amazing film and not just because it’s Hugh Grant’s best film, it’s really funny, it was wrote by Nick Horby and it’s really moving and emotional.

And also because it has a single message, ‘No man is an Island’.

Which means, we can’t live alone and unconnected from our fellow man (sorry I went a bit Dickens there) but instead we must  live together, form relationships and just connect with other human beings.

And the same is true for websites.
