The Twitter connection… February 9, 2010

Yes another post about Twitter, but this time it’s coming from someone who said “I’ll never join Twitter muwahahahaaaaa!”. But for some reason – I might have been in a mood with Facebook at the time – I signed up.

Now after a few weeks of ‘tweeting’ I’m really starting to see the benefits of befriending the web’s favourite bluebird. So far I’m not really connected to many people I know socially… not that I know many people socially! But I’ve stuck to using it as a professional platform, and that’s where it really works. Seriously I doubt I’d have any followers if I just posted boring tweets about my day.

It’s an ideal way to connect to other people in your profession. I am a content writer by day… but designer by night! So i get chance to connect to hundreds of design agencies and follow what they are doing, it’s a great source of inspiration. Who knows maybe some of them might be interested in seeing what I get up to! Since joining Twitter I gained double the amount of official followers to my blog, after all who would know I was there other wise.

Sometimes people just post random links to something they liked or found interesting, the odds are if I’ve chosen to follow them I will find it interesting too. Many of my followers may not have a Blogger account to officially follow me, and so depend on my tweets to link them to the latest post.

I personally think if I was just emailing these designers etc, I’d never hear off them in a million years, but Twitter has broken down barriers and shows them to be actual human beings who don’t mind a quick chat.

So I am secretly very glad I joined, it’s definitely an essential key to your social media campaign as a business. And if all else fails just follow @big_ben_clock, my new favourite way of telling the time “BONG BONG BONG!!”. No really, it’s true. And while you’re at it, follow us! @redsauceseo and we’ll do our best to keep you amused!
